Jesus Christ has said:
Mat 5:17
"Do not think that I have come to do away with the Law of Moses and
the teachings of the prophets. I have not come to do away with them, but to
make their teachings come true.” That means that Jesus
Christ paid the price for our salvation what the law requires. Therefore we
read in Romans 3: 21 and 22: But now
God's way of putting people right with himself has been revealed. It has
nothing to do with law, even though the Law of Moses and the prophets gave
their witness to it. God puts people right through their faith in Jesus Christ.
God does this to all who believe in Christ, because there is no difference at
all: It means that we are only saved by faith in Jesus Christ.
But why did Jesus
maintains the law?
The Bible says in Rom
3:20
“For no one is put right in God's sight by doing what the Law requires;
what the Law does is to make us know that we have sinned.” It means our
knowledge about sin is what the law requires. But we are unable to keep the
law. On the other hand the function of the law has changed. Now we have the
knowledge what sin is. But what to do because we trespasses the law? There is
another function of the law that shed light on our actions what to do, and that
is one of thanksgiving to the Lord. The Bible
says in Heb 12:28 “Let us be thankful, then, because we receive
a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Let us be grateful and worship God in a way
that will please him, with reverence and awe;” We keep the law because we
say in that action thank you Lord Jesus for salvation. But we are unable to
keep the law. Yes but our attitude counts. The Bible says in Php 2:5
“The attitude you should have is the one that Christ Jesus had:”
The proof of it all
was when one of the ten men who was suffering from a dreaded skin disease, came
back to Jesus kneeled before him to say thank you for healing which he received
from Jesus. This man’s attitude was right. He came back and said thanks to the
Lord. The Lord replied: Luk 17:19 “And
Jesus said to him, "Get up and go; your faith has made you well."
