ONE MINUTE WITH JESUS CHRIST.
Jesus Christ has said:
Mat 5:11 "Happy are you when people insult you
and persecute you and tell all kinds of evil lies against you because you are
my followers.
Mat 5:12 Be happy and glad, for a great reward is kept
for you in heaven. This is how the prophets who lived before you were
persecuted.
We take these two
verse together. Verse 12 is the result and motivation of verse 11. Again Jesus
praises his followers if people insult and persecute them because they are his
followers. Again we must emphasize that it must be understand in this way that the
persecution is related to Jesus Christ and not me. If we are insulted because
we are the followers of Jesus Christ or if it is related to my witnessing of
Jesus as the only savior of the world then these words of Jesus are applicable.
The result of it all
is that if we are persecuted on behalf of Jesus Christ then Jesus declared us
happy and we may feel glad. We have done the right thing to come out for our
Savior. But there is more at stake. The word says that we will receive a great
reward in heaven if we stay loyal to Jesus Christ. Yes, more we will receive an
earthly reward as well. We will receive the wonderful status as to be called
children of God. We will receive the reward of being proclaimed as righteous by
God through Jesus Christ. And we will be happy and glad if we are persecuted by
people on behalf of Jesus Christ: this is also a reward.
