PSALM 1 MEDITASIE.

GOD GEE GELUK.

Psa 1:1 ‘Gelukkig” is die man wat nie wandel in die raad van die goddelose en nie staan op die weg van die sondaars en nie sit in die kring van die spotters nie;

JESUS THE WORD.... AND YOUR AND MY WORDS.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God

Our theme is:

JESUS THE WORD.... AND YOUR AND MY WORDS.

We know that:

Our words are the manifestation of our whole being:

·             Our words are the expression of our character.

·             Our words are the expression of our personality.

·             Our words are the expression of our spirituality.

·             Our words are the mirrors of our intellect.

·             Our wisdom or folly begins to show when we begin to speak. Our words tell others who and what we are, how we reason, how wise or impulsive we are.

·             In our words the world sees the reflection and the true nature of our emotions and passions.

·             Our words reveal the state of our hearts and minds, the peace or the turmoil in us, our holiness or unholiness, our pain, our thankfulness, our cruelty or compassion.

·             Our words are the mirrors of our whole being, our soul.

Does the same — and much, much more — apply to Jesus Christ?

The Bible speaks about Jesus Christ as the Word.

THE WORD is one of the most profound Names of Jesus Christ.

HE IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD

Joh 1:1  In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

HE IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD

1Jn 1:1  We write to you about the Word of life, which has existed from the very beginning. We have heard it, and we have seen it with our eyes; yes, we have seen it, and our hands have touched it.

Jesus  is CALLED THE WORD OF GOD, THE WORD MADE FLESH, or just THE WORD.

The words of Christ were spoken to reveal to us that we are sinners before God . Mat 4:17  From that time Jesus began to preach his message: "Turn away from your sins, because the Kingdom of heaven is near!"

The words that Christ spoke,  also give us the opportunity to be reconciled with God.

Joh 1:12  Some, however, did receive him and believed in him; so he gave them the right to become God's children.

JESUS CHRIST IS CALLED THE WORD OF GOD because he has overcome and defeated Satan as well as  death and gave us eternal life.

This was revealed to Simon Peter.

Joh 6:68  Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.

Simon Peter’s testimony is our testimony. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  He is Life.  He is the only One in Whom we can ever have everlasting life. Only in union with Christ as our  personal Saviour and Lord do we have life.

We believe what Simon Peter came to believe.

We know that Joh 3:16 is the truth of God:

Joh 3:16  For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.

JESUS IS CALLED THE WORD, because the prophets have prophesied about Him as the Saviour who was to come, the only Messiah the world would ever have.

Isa 53:2  It was the will of the LORD that his servant grow like a plant taking root in dry ground. He had no dignity or beauty to make us take notice of him. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing that would draw us to him.

Isa 53:3  We despised him and rejected him; he endured suffering and pain. No one would even look at him--- we ignored him as if he were nothing.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE WORD because all God’s  promises have been fullfilled in Him.

The prophets spoke about the betrayal of the Messiah, and before Judas betrayed Him, Jesus said:

Joh 13:18-19:  "The scripture must come true that says, 'The man who shared my food turned against me.'  I tell you this now before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe that 'I Am Who I Am.'

HE IS CALLED THE WORD because every characteristic of God is in the Son, his wisdom, his might, his power, his righteouness, his grace.

Jesus is God himself.

Joh 10:30  The Father and I are one."

The significant meaning is: in Jesus Christ as THE WORD MADE FLESH, we find God’s  whole being, just as we discover God’s Being in the Bible as the Word.  But Jesus is the Word made flesh.  Jesus is the Word that we can see, He was, for a time,  the WORD on earth.

Through his word— the Old and the New Testament—God revealed himself to us.

Through THE WORD MADE FLESH, Jesus Christ, God revealed himself to mankind more than ever.

God had spoken to Adam, Kain, Moses, Samuel, David, Salomon.

He had commissioned the prophets of the Bible to speak his words. The reason for his words through the ages was and is that people will know him as the only God.

Through Jesus Christ, THE WORD and our Saviour we can now know Him better than ever before. Whatever you read about God in the Bible, is seen in Jesus.  WHatever you see in Jesus, is to be found in Scripture.

Through his words in the Old and New Testament, but especially through Jesus Christ, THE WORD MADE FLESH, all mankind will come to know about sin and how deadly is it.

The Word of God, the message of the Bible,  and Jesus as THE WORD cut like a surgeon’s scalpel and reach the depths of our being and our soul.

Heb 4:12   The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It cuts all the way through, to where soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart.

Through his word in Scripture and THE WORD MADE FLESH, Jesus Christ, God has given us the opportunity to be reconciled with him.  We may now enter  into His Kingdom and have eternal life. Isa 1:18 The LORD says, "Now, let's settle the matter. You are stained red with sin, but I will wash you as clean as snow. Although your stains are deep red, you will be as white as wool.

If we believe the Words of God—Scripture— and also THE WORD MADE FLESH, Jesus Christ, we will be saved.

Through his word GOD did powerful deeds.  He is still doing miraculous things through Scripture and especially through his Son, THE WORD MADE FLESH, and the Holy Spirit:

Gen 1:3  Then God commanded, "Let there be light"---and light appeared.

At the right time God has sent his only Son Jesus Christ to earth to make his plan of salvation and a godly life available to all the people on earth.

Gal 4:4-5  When the right time finally came, God sent his own Son. He came as the son of a human mother and lived under the Jewish Law,

to redeem those who were under the Law, so that we might become God's children.

This means God has sent Jesus Christ to us so that all who believe in Him will be saved.

Jesus Christ is called THE WORD because He is God’s final word to mankind.Jesus Christ is the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega, the Word in all its fullness, the Word fulfilled, THE WORD that needs no elaboration, nothing more.

Heb 1:1  In the past God spoke to our ancestors many times and in many ways through the prophets,

Heb 1:2  but in these last days he has spoken to us through his Son. He is the one through whom God created the universe, the one whom God has chosen to possess all things at the end.

We are in the end of times, which is between the first and the second coming of Jesus Christ.  We are in this phase of history, because God has spoken the final word and has given us the final opportunity to be saved through Jesus Christ, THE WORD MADE FLESH.

We must take his words to heart.

But what about our own words, because our words are the manifestion of our whole being: The shocking question is: are our words like the words of Jesus Christ?

Does our spirit mirror the soul of JESUS, THE WORD MADE FLESH?

What do our words reveal about ourselves?

Think about your words; recollect them:

The words that you recently said about people?

Were they filled with love? Or with hostility, apathy, anger?

The words that you recently spoke to people?

Were they words of healing? Or negativity?

The words that you recently spoke in anger?

Were they words that mirrored the Spirit of Christ? Were they mean and cruel?

The words that you recently spoke about AM?

Were they compassionate, uplifting, filled with deep-felt love for your brothers and sisters in the Lord? Or did you utter destructive words?

The words you speak... are they the kind of  words that

Jesus would have spoken? Or are they the utterances of the flesh and not out of the spirit?

If we evaluate our words seriously we must confess we that have failed. Our words do not at all reveal Christlikeness in us. Let us confess like Job:

Job_40:3  I spoke foolishly, LORD. What can I answer?

We cannot regard our unholy, unchristian words as something that does not matter very much. Our words mirror our inner condition. Our words are the most accurate barometer of our spirituality. Our words mirror the level of sancitifation or degeneration in us.

When we listen to our own words, we are in the moment of truth.  We know that the truth is terrible, ugly and terribly sad.

We are followers of Jesus Christ, therefore

How can we solve it? The Bible says:

Isa 50:4  The Sovereign LORD has taught me what to say, so that I can strengthen the weary. Every morning he makes me eager to hear what he is going to teach me.

We must pray to God to teach us.  We must listen, He is the One Who has to tell us what is wrong. He must open our eyes, so that we may see the true reason behind our ungodly words and utterances. Words mirror an inner condition. There is something deep within us that needs to be addressed.

1.     David said:  Search me, Oh Lord...

And God did.

God cleansed his heart. God forgave David’s sins.

2.     There can be no Godly testimony, no leadership, no Ward meeting without God.  After God has shown us what has to be confessed and sanctified deep within us, He will help us to testify in the way HE wants us to testify:

To Moses God said:

Exo 4:12  Now, go! I will help you to speak, and I will tell you what to say."

We must pray that the Lord will help us to say the right words. We must Listen to the ultimate Word: Jesus Christ and read his word, The Bible, on a daily basis.

If we read the Bible it says in Rom 10:8  "God's message is near you, on your lips and in your heart"---that is, the message of faith that we preach.

What you say in words are you; words about God and your neighbour are revealing your true self in your relationship with God and your neighbour. Your words are you; that is what God and other people, AM church members, your workers, your husband, spouse, your children; your grand children your colleagues hear.

They hear your words and think about who you are. You have spoken: You have openend your mouth and you have revealed your whole personality and being  to God and to other people.

Now it is time to think about the words that you speak.

1Pe 4:11  If any man speaks, let him speak the words of God; KJV.

Afrikaans by US: ‘Dis werklik jammer,’ sê oud-viserektor

PSALM 1: MEDITATION.

GOD MAKES US HAPPY.

Psa 1:1 “Happy are those who reject the advice of evil people, who do not follow the example of sinners or join those who have no use for God. “ Good News Bible.

God has sent his son, Jesus Christ, to us. He took the inisiatve to do so. Gal 4:4: “But when the right time finally came, God sent his own Son. He came as the son of a human mother and lived under the Jewish Law,” Good News Bible. His son was sent with a purpose. The purpose was: Mat 1:21: ”She will have a son, and you will name him Jesus---because he will save his people from their sins." Jesus came to save us from our sin. Sin is the cause for our unhappiness, because it was the problem to have a lucky relationship with God. But now God has changed our unhappiness in happiness through his son Jesus Christ. His son made our relationship with God perfect. Therefore there is no reason to be unhappy.

Do you believe it?

PSALM 86 NUWE TESTAMENTIES VERTOLK.

1933 Afrikaanse Bybelvertaling.

© SA Bybelgenootskap.                                      Nuwe Testamentiese Vertolking.

Geroep om hulp.                                                            God gee nuwe krag..

Psa 86:1  ‘n Gebed van Dawid.

HERE, neig u oor, verhoor my,                                    Genadiglik hoor U my smeekgebede,

want ek is ellendig en behoeftig.                               want U is die liefdevolle Vader, o God.

Psa 86:2  Bewaar my siel,                                            U, Jesus, het self my uitgenooi,

want ‘n gunsgenoot is ek;                                            om met U te praat,

want U Gees tree, met onuitspreeklike woorde,

U, my God, verlos u kneg wat op U vertrou.  vir my by die Vader in.

Psa 86:3  Wees my genadig, o Here,              Daarom weet ek dat

Psa 86:5  Want U, o Here,                            Alhoewel ek skuldig voel,

Psa 86:6  HERE, luister na my gebed  My gebede is somtyds gevul met herhalings

en let op die stem van my smekinge.                 wat nooit ‘n einde kry nie,

nogtans bly U ‘n getroue luisteraar.

Psa 86:7  In die dag van my benoudheid           Gebede is energietappend,

roep ek U aan, want U verhoor my.      want my gesprek met U,

is emosie-belaai. Nogtans wil ek met U praat:

die gesprekke is allerkosbaar vir my.

Here, en daar is niks soos u werke nie. staan ek in verwondering oor U wese:

U is lankmoedig en bereid om aandagtig

                                                                     na my hulpgeroep te luister.

Psa 86:9  Al die nasies wat U gemaak het,   U is die Skepper van alle mense,

sal kom en hulle voor u aangesig neerbuig,   op hierdie aarde.

Here, en hulle sal u Naam eer;                  U gee besondere aandag

Psa 86:11  Leer my, HERE, u weg:                   Trouens U hou ‘n wakende oog oor alles:

ek sal in u waarheid wandel;                           U onderhouing van alle dinge,

verenig my hart tot die vrees van u Naam.      is sonder ophou, en strek van sekonde tot sekonde.

Psa 86:12  Here, my God, ek wil U loof           Aan so ‘n God wil ek,

                                                                                             wat so optree.

Vergewe my Here Jesus, maar help my om U liefdesgebod

                                                                   uit te voer.

Psa 86:15  Maar U, Here, is ‘n barmhartige en genadige God, U, o God, is so gans anders,

en so goedgunstig teenoor U skepsele ingestel.

Psa 86:16  Wend U tot my en wees my genadig; U is Gees, daarom word U nie moeg of afgemat nie.

nie, want U wese is geestelik,

maar myne is menslik, en gevolglik

                                                                              word ek moeg en moedeloos,

weens die eise van elke dag.

Psa 86:17  Doen aan my ‘n teken ten goede,  Ek is so dikwels kragteloos,

sodat my haters dit sien en beskaamd kan staan, en verloor my lewenslus.

omdat U, o HERE, my gehelp en getroos het.. Ek kom bid om nuwe krag,

want ek wil energievol optree. Ek bid om insig, sodat U Gees my sal lei,
